Mafia Involved In Amauri Deal; Foschi Had Zampa Punch Up - Reports

The deal which saw Amauri move from Palermo to Juventus involved the Mafia according to a report in today's edition of La Sicilia.

The Italo-Brazilian moved to the Old Lady this summer for €24.8m and there are reports which suggest that the Sicilian Mafia also played a pasrt in the deal.

It comes just 24 hours after Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini said that his club were clean and had no involvement with any organised crime following a recent investigation by Police into the club's dealings.

La Sicilia lead with the headline "The Mafia and the Amauri Deal" today and they claim that former sporting director Rino Foschi had a punch up with president Maurizio Zamparini over the deal because he didn't want the sale to go through.

“We're sorry for how the game went. We're happy with our performance but not the result.

Juventus forward Alessandro Del Piero is disappointed with the 1-1 draw with Catania as he felt his team controlled the match...

Juventus went ahead in the first half through Carvalho Amauri at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin, but they ended up drawing 1-1 as the visitors equalized through Gianvito Plasmati in the second half.

Juve captain Alessandro Del Piero feels his side had the better chances but in essence threw away the three points.

"We controlled the match too early," said said the World Cup winner. "Then we waited for the 1-1 to respond, creating many chances in the last 20 minutes."
