Juve Still After Schweinsteiger

Juventus have not given up on acquiring Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Munich, according to reports...

Juventus inquired about Schweinsteiger this summer, but nothing concrete came out of the Bianconeri's supposed interest in the player. It was thought Juve had moved on to other targets, but according to Il Giornale, they are still interested in bringing the German international to Turin.

The 24-year-old has been in the Bayern first-team squad since 2002; however, his contract runs out at the end of this season and he could be available for free if he does not sign an extension with they German giants.

Juventus seem to be the club in pole position, as they look to find a replacement for the ageing Pavel Nedved, who turned 36 this August.

However, Schweinsteiger is well known after his international exploits in Euro 2004, World Cup 2006 and Euro 2008, where he performed admirably for his country, scoring some key goals. He is likely to attract plenty of interest from other clubs as well, including both Inter and AC Milan in Serie A.

Calcio Debate: Do Juve Risk Losing Giovinco?

Juventus fans are growing increasingly agitated at the lack of playing time being afforded to Sebastian Giovinco. Carlo Garganese asks whether the young starlet is at risk of wasting away at the Stadio Olimpico, and whether he may opt for a move elsewhere…

For several months now the media has been full of speculation and counter-speculation regarding the future of the wonderfully-gifted fantasista. First off all there was talk that the 21-year-old may join Palermo in the Amauri-exchange deal, leading to a number of notable fan protests.

Secondly there were, and still are, continuous reports about Arsenal tabling a transfer bid, rumours fueled originally by Giovinco’s contract dispute in which much-maligned sporting director Alessio Secco is refusing to meet the youngster’s salary demands.

The French striker underwent a double operation at the Fornaca clinic in Turin on Tuesday morning. Surgery was carried out by professors Flavio Quaglia and Giuliano Cerulli and it was a success.

Trez had arthroscopy carried out to his right knee and damage to his tendon was cleared up. The surgeons also operated his left knee where they removed a damaged meniscus.

Both problems were fixed and the club have confirmed their striker will be out of action for at least 120 days, his return to the pitch will not come until January at the earliest.
